Eve of the Party
September 12th, 2008It's the day before the launch party, the day when our company finally takes it's first steps out into the real world. I can't believe it, it's a little surreal in fact. To think that just earlier this year Jordan and I actually got serious about starting this company to emerge into what it has become.
Believe me, leading up to this party has been a long road of arguing, confusion, and Jordan spending lots of $$, haha. Yet at the same time it's been liberating in a way, to be doing something that has been a dream of mine since I was a kid which is starting a business of my own selling items that I've helped create in some way.
I can't wait for tomorrow, it's going to be a blast everyone! Pictionary and other drawing games, tons of people, great music by Caleb Lionheart who'll be playing their acoustic set, and of course our babies (the tee shirts we'll be selling that is).
This is only the beginning people.

Doodling
September 3rd, 2008I was sitting in class today, which was a complete snoozer by the way. I mention that because while the teacher was boring us with his repetitiveness, I saw one of three things when I glanced around at my fellow peers in the class. Either that I saw kids knocked out cold in their chairs, some people actually paying attention (not that I’m a bad student and don’t pay attention, just that I already knew what he was talking about, kthnx), and what I found a little amusing yet at the same time inspiring was I saw people doodling the crap out of their notes.
Each doodle was unique in its own way and I felt reflected a little bit about the person. The person in the row next to me a few seats up was a guy who was probably just about eighteen, sometimes acted as though he was too smart for being in this class, and had that quality about him that made it seem like he loves video games and mythical creatures…maybe even a little bit of Dungeons and Dragons has been played in his day. What I saw him doodling on what appeared to have been a work in progress from other boring classes or spare time in which he could sketch away, clearly a doodling professional. It was a surreal scene, a giant tree with a thick, twisting trunk adorned with knots and limbs draped in leaves. Along the trunk, about midway, he placed a wooden platform so that the bottom half of the tree is shielded in a way with planks of wood holding up the platform to the tree. Then there were weird creatures drawn underneath and so forth…and then I looked away because I think he was getting bothered by me staring.
Another girl, typical blonde: pink top, French manicure, pearls, and I guess in a way you could say “princess”. I’m not being mean, I don’t know the girl, but hey it gets my message across. Number one priority is boys, followed swiftly by friends and shopping. What I noticed she was drawing was, well, hearts...and a lot of them. All over the page, each one varying in height and/or width, thickness, shading, and a few colored in with polka dots.
The point being, that you can tell a lot about a person and what they think about or like, etc, by what the mindlessly draw on a piece of paper. I mean, in a way our doodles can tell a lot about us, there’s even psychological reasoning behind what it is we draw when we doodle. Just Google “psychology” and “doodles”, then you’ll see what I mean.
I doodled these in class today, thought I'd share. They aren't AMAZING but it passed the time.

Welcome
August 27th, 2008For the longest time I never really knew what I wanted to do with my life, hell...I still don't. One thing I always always ALWAYS did though was doodled. It could be math homework, spelling homework, mail, random papers, money, table tops, the coloring mats at restaurants, refrigerators; just about anything was fair game. I’d spend so much time inside my head just drawing lines, shapes, anything that my pretty little head could think up.
I guess that's why I decided to major in art, hell you can say that doodling paved my way to college. The art of a doodle, the mysteries that lie in those insignificant drawings that we always tend to throw away...that's what Draw Ltd. is. We're here to show every person who never thought their doodles meant anything, that they were wrong. That they themselves could in fact be artists without being a classically trained "artist,” That every person has the ability to draw, to doodle, and more importantly to create.
Draw Ltd. is a clothing company that prides itself for wearing its doodles on its sleeves quite literally in fact. So stick around, we're under construction but we'll be up sooner then you think. In the mean time start getting into the mindset that there is merit to your doodles, to your work. Remember the child-like mentality that comes with thinking you can be anything you want and that if you have a pair of crayons the world is your canvas.
Most importantly remember, just like you did when you were 5 years old…
Monsters are real.
